Meningioma

Meningiomas occur in the skull and spine. They are created by an abnormal and uncontrolled cell division in the brain envelopes (meninges). They can compress the brain or spinal cord when reaching a certain size. Depending on the location, this could be fatal. The tumors are classified as "benign" since they do not typically spread to other parts of the body. Meningiomas commonly present with progressive neurologic deficit which is usually motor weakness. Headaches and seizures are also commonly seen.
